Madonna RIAA Gold Sales Award for the Album Madonna
An official RIAA Gold Sales Award presented to commemorate sales in excess of 500,000 copies of the Sire Records album Madonna. The award recognizes the commercial breakthrough of Madonna’s 1983 debut studio album, a release that laid the foundation for one of the most influential careers in modern pop music.
The self-titled album Madonna introduced a fresh fusion of dance pop and club-driven production, featuring now-classic tracks such as “Lucky Star,” “Borderline,” and “Burning Up.” Produced primarily by Reggie Lucas, the record established Madonna as a defining new voice of the MTV era, achieving strong chart performance in the United States and internationally. Its success marked the beginning of her ascent to global superstardom and set the stage for the cultural phenomenon that followed with later releases.
The award display features a gold LP with Sire Records label, accompanied by a commemorative plaque engraved:
“TO COMMEMORATE
THE SALE OF MORE THAN
500,000 COPIES OF THE
SIRE RECORDS
ALBUM, CASSETTE AND C.D.
‘MADONNA’”
The presentation also includes a CD element, a cassette representation, and an album image, all housed within a black frame with blue trim detail, consistent with mid-1980s RIAA award styling.
Condition: Very well preserved for its age. The plexiglass shows only light surface marks, and the frame exhibits minimal wear, presenting attractively overall.
A highly desirable official industry award celebrating the debut album that launched Madonna’s career and defined the sound of early 1980s pop.
